April 2022 Fishing Report

Englewood & Boca Grande Monthly Fishing Updates

April 1st, 2022 | Capt. Cameron Schurlknight

Spring, beautiful weather and warm temps are upon us and the fishing is nothing short of phenomenal here in the Boca grande / Englewood area. Especially, the backcountry fishing in and around our inland waters. Snook, redfish and trout have been plentiful in one of the best springs I’ve seen in awhile. Lots of quality snook in the 26-34in range around this spring which is awesome to see and my anglers are loving it.

Redfish have also made a big time appearance this spring, especially on my afternoon trips. Big redfish are loving that warm, high tide then. Great angling on light tackle.

Other fish like the trout have been plentiful and some mackeral have been showing up also. The king of spring is coming, the tarpon. We’ve already started seeing some fish in our area. I start fishing for them in Mid April, if you want a spot on my calendar please let me know soon! Tarpon fishing is by far the most exciting and rewarding big game fishing.
