August 2022 Fishing Report

Englewood & Boca Grande Monthly Fishing Updates

August 19th, 2022 | Capt. Cameron Schurlknight

Another great spring and summer season is in the books. Lot of great inshore action and capped off with an awesome tarpon season. If you did not get a chance to tarpon fish last season it’s not too early to get on the books for next season. We’ve been moving back into the harbor lately and with fall approaching have been having some great inshore action.

The redfish have showed up again for the season in big numbers. I have been fishing multiple large schools of redfish already and it’s just getting started. These schools will get bigger and stay until the two weeks of November. School fish have been ranging from 25-35in.

Snook and trout fishing has remained excellent. Lot of trout this year too which is different from years past as they are on the rebound. Snook are plentiful in the back country as well. Great time of year to catch a slam. (Redfish, snook, trout).

Tarpon are still around as well. On the calmer days we’ve been finding plenty of fish to cooperate. Fish are now up in the harbor system and are able to catch them on artificial lures now which is a ton of fun on its own. These fish will remain intact through October.

Late summer / fall provides some of the best fishing our area has to offer! A great time to pursue a slam or grand slam (redfish, snook, trout) or (redfish, snook, trout, tarpon). Give me a call or text to set up a date 941-421-9554.
