January 2019 Fishing Report
Englewood & Boca Grande Monthly Fishing Updates
A wild fall has come to an end and we are slipping into our winter season and patters now. A few things to point out before I continue. Yes this summer and fall we experienced some of the worst prolonged red tide that I have personally seen growing up here. It killed some fish, marine life and mammals. It did NOT devastate the fish population as you may see on certain publications. And to be completely honest, myself and a few other guides enjoyed some of the best fishing I have personally seen. The prolonged tide concentrated fish in areas where it wasn’t and made for some epic fishing. Here’s some pics from the fall.
Now we are into December and water has cleaned up beautifully and we are still at it. My charters in Englewood and Boca Grande have been catching redfish, trout, pompano, sheepshead and jacks. On calmer days we have been venturing into the gulf and finding snapper, flounder, tripletail and the occasional cobia.
Fishing has been good even with the cooler temps! Give me a shout and let’s get out. If you ever wondering how the fishing is - don’t hesitate to call me. I’ll always shoot you straight. Nobody wants to catch them more than me!
I’m starting to get calls for tarpon season already. If that’s on your list this year give Me a call soon as I’m filling the dates every week.
